Triton Sports Wrap: April 10
Track and field
Triton’s track and field teams opened with a pair of losses at the Culver Academies Tuesday. The Lady Trojans fell, 71-52, and the Trojans lost by a remote, 93-19 margin.
Abigail Powell won both hurdles races for Triton’s girls, finishing the 100 highs in 16.30 and the 300 lows in 53.4. Abbey Viers cleared 4’6” in the high jump to win that event, while Annie Hill cleared 4 feet to place third there. Viers also placed second in both throwing events as she and Charlotte Morris went one-two in each. Morris recorded a 28’5.5” throw to win the shot put, and Viers cleared 28’1.75” for second there, while Morris’ 101’7” was the best toss in the discus, and Viers’ 75’ measurement earned her second place there. The Lady Trojans also went one-two in the long jump as Sydney Stotler won the event with a 13’8.25” leap, and Brianna Wilhite cleared 13’1.25” for second place. Jalea Faulkner topped the field in the pole vault with a winning mark of 7’6”.
The Trojans’ only win came in the long jump as Hunter McIntyre tied with CMA’s Jabari Brown with a 16’9.75” mark for first. Josiah Page placed second in the 300 hurdles with a 50.50 time and was third in the 1600 meters with a 5:23.2 time. McIntyre placed third in the 400 in 1:01.7. Connor Ousley and Brandon Lenker finished two-three in the shot put with respective tosses of 36’04.5” and 35’04.23”, and Dylan Johnson and Jade Kieninger were second and third, respectively, in the discus with throws of 92’10” and 91’02”.
Softball
Triton’s softball team claimed a 14-3 win over Plymouth on the road Tuesday.
Pitcher Nicole Sechrist homered in the fifth inning to help her own cause in the win.
The Lady Trojans’ JV earned a similarly comfortable win, 16-3, over their Plymouth counterparts to complete the sweep.
