20th Annual Taste Of Ag Features Fun For The Whole Family
WARSAW — Even though temperatures were a bit chilly, children, adults and families attended the 20th annual Taste of Ag event Tuesday, April 10 at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.
During the event, attendees had the opportunity to sample food products such as ice cream, cheese, duck, beef, eggs, goat cheese and various pork products. New this year was the Young Chefs competition, where students showcased their cooking skills by preparing food samples featuring local products.
$1,500 in grocery gift certificates and over $1,000 in other door prizes were given out at the event. The gift certificates were given for locally raised products, including soy candles, beef, pork, dairy and duck. Entries in the Art of Agriculture contest were also on display at the event.
The Wawasee FFA also hosted the annual pedal pull. Children ages 5 to 10 competed in the event. Prizes were awarded to the top finishers in each division.
Over 20 different booths were on display representing agriculture in Kosciusko County with opportunities for participants to get a head start on a garden or make a mini-composting unit. Attendees could also meet animals, including sheep, rabbits, goats and one day old chicks.
The Taste of Ag event is held annually to provide an interactive and educational opportunity for Kosciusko County citizens to learn about agriculture in the area. The event was sponsored by the Kosciusko County: Agriculture Awareness Committee, Extension Office, Farm Bureau, County Community Foundation, Cargill Animal Nutrition, and Farm Credit Mid America and supported by the Kosciusko County Community Fair.
