NorthWood Softball: Miller On Target
NAPPANEE – Even with snow fluttering around in the air, NorthWood’s Madison Miller was on fire.
Miller tossed a one-hitter Monday afternoon, shutting down West Noble in a 7-0 NorthWood softball win at Stauffer Park.
Just a single to Becky Yoder in the second inning was the lone hit allowed by the sophomore hurler. Miller would walk two and got out of her only jam in the fourth, after a walk and error had Chargers on second and third, only for Miller to rear back and strike out Kourtnie Jones to end the threat. The work preserved, at the time, a scoreless game, but NorthWood would answer.
Brooklyn Troyer doubled in the first run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Panthers struck for six runs in the fifth. Gracie Clark and Grace Anglemyer each had RBI singles, and a pair of fielder’s choices and walks brought in four more runs.
Troyer and Anglemyer each finished with two hits and a run scored.
Miller would end with 11 strikeouts and just two walks in the gem for NorthWood.
NorthWood (2-1) hosts Class 2-A No. 1 Whitko Tuesday while West Noble (1-3) will visit Whitko Wednesday.
