Mentone Man Sentenced To Four Years At Department Of Corrections For Robbing Bank
KOSCIUSKO — A Mentone man was sentenced today, Monday, April 9, in Kosciusko Circuit Court after robbing the Mentone Lake City Bank in March 2017.
Bernie Joe Montileaux, 211 North Tucker St., Mentone, was charged with robbery and failure to appear.
On March 8, 2017, officers responded to an alarm at the Mentone branch of Lake City Bank. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Montileaux robbed a bank teller after displaying a weapon and fled the scene on foot.
Officers entered Montileaux’s residence and took him into custody. They located the weapon used, as well as an undisclosed amount of money that was taken during the robbery.
“I deserve whatever sentence you give me,” Montileaux said.
Judge Michael Reed sentenced Montileaux to four years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
