James Allen Nicholas — UPDATED
James “Jim” Allen Nicholas, 73, Leesburg, passed away at 11:24 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on May 12, 1944, in Anderson to Betty Mae (Frame) Nicholas and Hobart Royce Nicholas. On June 20, 1964, he was married to Daisy Ruth Burris.
He was a graduate of Ball State University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was an entrepreneur and was presently the co-owner of Nicholas Precision Works. He started N.G. Instruments with his sons in Warsaw, manufacturing orthopedic cutting tools, and was formerly the vice president of manufacturing at Biomet in Warsaw. He was a member of the N.R.A, Dallas Safari Club and Safari Club International. He loved machining, hunting and even built a bench rest rifle. He very much enjoyed big game hunting and made several Safari’s to Africa. He loved life, but most of all he loved his family. He will be dearly missed by all.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Daisy Ruth Nicholas, Leesburg; two sons: Tony (Mary) Nicholas, Warsaw; Tim (Ashley Benthal) Nicholas, Dyersburg, Tenn.; and four grandchildren: Zachary and Abby Nicholas, Warsaw; Landan Benthal and Harper Nicholas, Dyersburg, Tenn. Also surviving is his brother: Don Nicholas, Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held Monday, April 9, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
