Crossroads Teams Among Nationally Ranked
KANSAS CITY – The NAIA released a new batch of Top-25 Polls for the sports of golf and baseball. The Crossroads League placed five teams in those polls and currently boasts a total of 30 teams ranked or receiving votes.
The women’s golf poll has Taylor at No. 16. Taylor hauled in 270 points in the latest poll to climb one position in the rankings. TU has taken the course for two events this spring, winning the seven-team Purgatory Intercollegiate and finishing third-of-12 at the Phoenix Invitational.
No. 25 Marian moved into the Top-25 for the first time this season with 116 points. The Knights have scored wins in each event this spring, most recently topping the eight-team field at the Heritage Hills Collegiate.
Both Bethel and Indiana Wesleyan received votes in the poll. Bethel slipped one spot and dropped out of the Top-25 with 87 points. The Pilots finished eighth out of 12 teams at the Phoenix Invite in their lone outing of the spring.
Indiana Wesleyan continued to receive votes, taking in 26 points. IWU has played in one event this spring, finishing fourth-of-seven at TU’s Purgatory Intercollegiate.
On the men’s golf side, Taylor claimed 331 points to move up one more spot in the new poll to No. 12. The Trojans are coming off a team title at the TPC Deere Run Invitational and boast a 45-4 head-to-head mark through three events this spring.
Among other polls, Marian checks in at No. 3 and IWU at No. 12 in softball. IWU sits at No. 9 with both Huntington and Marian receiving votes in the women’s tennis poll. The IWU men’s tennis team is ranked No. 23.
