Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Tessa M. Heaton, 19, Baugher Drive, Tippecanoe, Fawn R. Burlage, 35, Crestview Drive, North Manchester. Heaton told police she was backing her vehicle out of a parking spot in the KGP Logistics parking lot. She said she did not see any other vehicle and that she employed her passenger to also check for other vehicles. Burlage said she backed her vehicle out of its parking spot and began east through the lot when Heaton’s vehicle backed out and collided with her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
4:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, South Columbia Street, south of West Market Street, Warsaw. Driver: Kent A. Raypholtz, 50, South Hill Drive, Silver Lake. Raypholtz told police he was driving his vehicle south on Columbia Street when the box of his vehicle struck the railroad bridge. Raypholtz told police his vehicle was new and that he was not sure of the height. The railroad bridge owner was contacted and reported someone would be sent to inspect the bridge for damage. Damage up to $10,000.
4:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, West Center Street and North Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Michael A. Wahlig, 44, West Old Road 30, Warsaw, Hector A. Carbajal, 21, Sharon Street, Warsaw. Wahlig told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Center Street and that his cell phone rang. He attempted to answer the phone and when he looked up, Carbajal’s vehicle had stopped at the stop light. Wahlig was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid rear-ending Carbajal’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
3:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, SR 15, north of Arthur Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Katherine L. Scott, 32, South Scott Road, Claypool, Marcus A. Garcia, 20, Wabash Avenue, Fort Wayne. Garcia told police he was driving his vehicle in the right hand lane, southbound on SR 15 when he saw signs directing drivers to merge into the left lane. He began slowing his vehicle. Scott said when Garcia’s vehicle slowed, she was unable to slow her vehicle in time to avoid it colliding with Garcia’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
12:50 p.m. Monday, April 2, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Driver: Eric M. Rhodes, 32, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Rhodes told police he was backing his vehicle in his parking space in order to pull forward and backed his vehicle into a parked vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
