2018 Author Dinner ‘A Visit With Mary Shelley’ And Silent Auction To Raise Funds For Kosciusko Literacy Services
WARSAW — Kosciusko Literacy Services is hosting the sixteenth annual author dinner A Visit with Mary Shelley at Noa Noa Wood Grill and Sushi Bar at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in Warsaw. Adrienne Provenzano will portray Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein.
While staying in Switzerland during a cold wet summer, teenage Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein in 1818 as competition among Percy Bysshe Shelley, Lord Byron, Byron’s personal physician John Polidori and Mary’s stepsister Claire. Two hundred years later the novel’s themes, such as unintended consequences, the creation of life and the ostracism by society, remain relevant to today’s society.
The dinner raises much needed funds to provide literacy services. Tickets are $100, of which $65 is tax deductible as allowed by law. For tickets or for information on sponsoring the event, call (574) 267-5380. More sponsors are necessary to make this event successful.
Current sponsors for the author dinner are the Medtronic Spinal & Biologics, Esther Pfleiderer Charitable Trust & 1st Source Bank, C T B, Inc., The Papers Inc., Learning Solutions and Lois Niemier, and NIPSCO. The silent auction will feature vacation packages, and items donated by the Fort Wayne Komit Hockey Club, Fort Wayne Tincaps, the Indianapolis Colts, Service Liquors, Steve Creighton Art, the Indiana Pacers, the South Bend Cubs and the Indiana Fever.
