Glenndora Harrold
Glenndora Harrold, 99, of rural Columbia City, died at 1:50 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Miller’s –Oak Pointe, Columbia City, where she had been a resident since January 2015.
She was born June 23, 1918, in Washington Townwnship, Noble County, a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Sylvia C. (Baker) Beers. She grew-up on the family farm north of Etna. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1936.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Luckey Hospital in Wolf Lake until meeting and marrying her husband.
She was united in marriage to Orval E. Harrold on Oct. 5, 1952. They made their home in Churubusco for five years and then moved to a farm north of Etna. In 1990, they moved to Columbia City. Mr. Harrold died Aug. 14, 2000.
She was a full-time homemaker and assisted her husband with their farm operation. In their retirement years, the couple wintered in Florida and traveled throughout the U.S. and to Ireland.
She was a member of the Merriam Christian Chapel Church. She was always up for a table game and enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by her three step-children: Ronald (Eudora) Harrold, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Richard (Cyd) Harrold, Fort Wayne; and Joann Platt (Don), Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and a niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Vena Maxine Beers and Dortha Boggs.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Churubusco. The visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.at the funeral home.
