Joe E. Adkins — UPDATED
Joe E. Adkins, 58, Ligonier, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018, at his residence in Ligonier. He was born Aug. 21, 1959, in Logan, W. Va. to James and Betty (Maynard) Adkins.
He is survived by his loving partner of 11 years, Jeanne L. Adkins, Ligonier; mother, Betty Adkins, Vermilion, Ohio; sister, Jeannie (Marvin) Holbrook; aunts: Daisy Brumfield, Kay Bird (Dan) Hershberger; cousins, Terry (Kim) Brumfield, David (Traci) Adkins; Step-Children, Faith (Chris) Champion, Jessica (Justin) Arnold; grandchildren: Kennedy (JJ) Weimer, Riley Champion, Jazmyn Smith, Landyn Champion, Lily Schultz, Kianna and Korbin Arnold; great grandchildren: Bennett Champion, Adalie and Huxley Weimer, and he loved and was loved by many nieces, nephews, and life-long friend, John Anthony.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Peggy Maynard; sister, Robin Adkins; father, James Adkins; and cousin, Andrea Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was a locomotive engineer for CSX Transportation Division for 17 years. His main hobby through-out life was to go hunting. He enjoyed the time in the woods with his father, as a young boy, his coon dogs as a young adult, and the memories created with his nephew and grandson as an adult. Later in life he enjoyed the open road feeling riding on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His other time was spent devoted to family functions. He was a passionate fan of all the sporting events his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren participated in.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at Yeager Funeral Home – 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday. Pastor Joey Nelson will be officiating. Burial will take place at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, following the service.
