Katherine Calhoun
Katherine Calhoun, 75, and a resident of Warsaw for the past 60 years, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center at 3:46 a.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018.
Mrs. Calhoun was born in Watergap, Ky. Sept. 17, 1942. She was one of eleven children and the daughter of Jay and Mollie (Hall) Shepherd. She attended school in Kentucky and would eventually find herself moving to Pierceton before settling in Warsaw. Katherine Shepherd and Lester Calhoun were united in marriage Oct. 8, 1962, in Claypool; together the two would share 55 years before her passing.
A hardworking person, Calhoun held various positions with Jomac Glove, Maple Leaf Farms, Wong’s Restaurant and spent more than 30 years at Warsaw Plating Works. She enjoyed crafting, especially knitting and crochet. She liked garage sales and flea markets and loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Harvest Community Church, Pierceton.
In addition to her husband, Lester Calhoun, two daughters survive: Sandra (Duane) Mayhew, Warsaw; and Vicky (David) Gardner, Winnsborro, Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Leslie (Tyler) Davis, Melvin Keplinger, Katie Gardner and Will Gardner; two brothers: George Shepherd and Clark Shepherd; three sisters: Norma Jean Wood, Jeanette Kirkland and Grace Woodling and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters and her parents.
Friends may join family for a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Hall, Harvest Community Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 29.
