Indiana Extension Homemakers Association Holds Spring District Meeting
ATWOOD — The Michigan City district of the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association held a spring district meeting at the Atwood Community Building on Tuesday, March 27.
Eight northern Indiana counties, including Elkhart, Kosciusko and Marshall, each had IEHA representatives present at the meeting.
According to the organization’s website, the mission of Indiana Extension Homemakers is to strengthen families through continuing education, leadership development, and volunteer community support.
During the meeting, Annetta Jones of Porter County and Mary Ann Lienhart Cross of Elkhart County discussed communication and how to hold effective conversations. They did this by talking about the “7 Cs of Communication”: be clear, concise, concrete, correct, coherent, complete and courteous.
The presentation also compared kitchen tools to these communication aspects, with items such as an egg separator and paring knife representing conciseness and coherency.
Anne Moore, state vice-president of IEHA, was also present at the meeting to discuss the upcoming Home and Family Conference in Indianapolis from June 4 to 6.
At the conference, members will have the opportunity to complete crafts, attend a business meeting, and model resale clothes in a red carpet style show.
The next Michigan City fall district meeting will take place in Elkhart on August 29.
