Juveniles Involved In Robbery That Led To Gun Fire
SYRACUSE — Syracuse Police have not released the name of a victim or suspects detailed in an early morning robbery that led to one of the suspects being grazed by a bullet. The victim and suspects are all juveniles.
Syracuse Police were sent at 1:44 a.m. Sunday, March 25, to 108 E. Haiden Drive, Apt. 36, regarding a possible shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered a male juvenile lying on the floor of the residence stating he had been struck in the head with a baseball bat by four other juveniles entering his home, beating him and robbing him of money and firearms.
The juvenile victim stated he chased the four juveniles out of the residence and fired a handgun at the four fleeing suspects. It was later determined the victim had struck a neighbor’s vehicle and apartment while firing the weapon.
Three juvenile suspects were later taken into custody by Syracuse Police and transported to the South Bend Juvenile Justice Center. During the arrest of the three male juveniles, it was found the victim had grazed the leg of one of the suspects while firing the handgun. One juvenile suspect is still wanted for questioning in regards to this case.
During a subsequent search of the victim’s residence, large amounts of marijuana, paraphernalia and two handguns were recovered.
Syracuse Police Department was assisted by the Kosciusko and Elkhart County Sheriff’s Departments, North Webster, Milford Police, Winona Lake Police Departments, and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
