Hales Tabbed For North Jr. All-Stars
INDIANAPOLIS – Westview star Elijah Hales is one of six players named to the IndyStar Boys Basketball Junior All-Stars North group.
Hales led his Warriors to a No. 2 ranking in the final Class 2-A poll. Westview won sectional and regional championships before losing to Oak Hill 70-64 in the North Semistate game last Saturday at Huntington North.
Hales, a standout guard, averaged 14 points-per-game as Westview won a program best 28 games in finishing 28-2. He had 31 points and eight assists in the semistate contest.
Hales father Ross, who is currently the Westview JV coach, was a star player at Elkhart Memorial High School.
Joining Hales on the North Group are Noah Applegate of Penn, Ali Ai of East Noble, Ethan Brittain-Watts of Culver Academy, Craig Young of Fort Wayne Wayne and Colin Kenney of Michigan City Marquette Catholic.
The Core Group of Junior All-Stars includes Keion Brooks of Fort Wayne North, Armaan Franklin of Cathedral, Mason Gillis of New Castle, Trayce Jackson-Davis of Center Grove, Brandon Newman of Valparaiso and Isaiah Thompson of Zionsville.
Mike English of Beech Grove will serve as head coach of the Junior All-Stars. Rob Yoder of Westview will be one of the assistants for the team, along with Scott McClelland of Morristown.
The Indiana Junior All-Stars will play the Kentucky Junior All-Stars June 1 in Kentucky and June 2 in Indiana with the game locations to be announced at a later time. The Juniors will then play the Indiana Senior All-Star team on June 6 at a location to be announced.
