WCSC: Fourth Graders Demonstrate Osmo Program
WARSAW — The Warsaw Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees met at the March regular board meeting, March 19.
Madison Elementary School was the spotlight school during the meeting.
Kindergarten through fourth grade students, along with Gina Courtois, Monique Lyon and Jodi Hanson, demonstrated the Osmo program using iPads. Osmo is a creative learning tool in key areas such as creative problem solving, art, science, technology, engineering and math.
Suzie Light of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation reported that Janet Petro has established an endowment to benefit the Warsaw Performing Arts Center.
Kyle Carter, Jefferson Elementary School principal, was recognized for going the extra mile during the recent flooding. Carter went to a home and carried a student with special needs from the house to his van to make sure the student could attend school.
Brandon Penrod, chief financial officer and David Robertson, chief academic officer were recognized for receiving their doctoral degrees through Indiana State University.
Lori Tilden-Geiger was recognized by the board and by Superintendent David Hoffert for her 17 years of service to Warsaw Community Schools. Tilden-Geiger has taken another position out of the corporation.
Hoffert shared a video highlighting the building and renovation projects of Lincoln Elementary, Washington STEM Academy and Edgewood Middle School.
The next board work session is Tuesday, April 10 at 4 p.m. The March regular board meeting is Monday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
