Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
7:36 a.m. Monday, March 19, East CR 500N, and EMS T9 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Zaw Win, 55, East Fairfax Avenue, Fort Wayne. Win told police he was driving eastbound on CR 500N when a deer ran into the path of his vehicle. He was not able to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $10,000.
2:46 p.m. Sunday, March 18, West US 30 and North CR 875W, Etna Green. Drivers: Stephen D. Stine, 74, North CR 875W, Etna Green, Brian L. Farmer, 48, Privet Drive, Crown Point. According to police, Farmer was traveling eastbound on US 30 and Stine was in his vehicle in the crossover median from CR 875 W. Police said Stine pulled his vehicle into the path of Farmer’s vehicle, causing the two vehicles to collide. Stine complained of dizziness and Farmer and a juvenile female passenger both complained of pain. All three victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Damage up to $25,000.
4:01 p.m. Saturday, March 17, South Packerton Road, north of East Pearl Street, Claypool. Drivers: Jessica L. Saunders, 28, South Harrison Street, Warsaw, Cathryn E. Myers, 59, East Williams Street, Marion. Both drivers were driving their vehicles northbound on Packerton Road. Myers stopped her vehicle for a train and Saunders told police she was breaking to stop her vehicle as well but that she leaned over to retrieve an item and that her vehicle reached Myers’ vehicle sooner than expected, causing a rear-end collision. Damage up to $2,500.
10:09 a.m. Saturday, March 17, West SR 14 and South CR 925W, Silver Lake. Driver: James M. Buskirk, 65, South Pheasant Place, Claypool. Buskirk told police he lost control of his vehicle in the snow and slush-covered road, causing his vehicle to slide off the south side of the roadway, crash into an electric fence and utility pole, snapping the pole and knocking out power. Damage up to $25,000.
1:04 a.m. Saturday, March 17, North SR 19, north of West Hepton Road, Nappanee. Driver: Joseph S. Beck, 22, CR 31, Goshen. Beck was not at the scene of the accident and told police the next day he had fallen asleep and drove off the road at the intersection of SR 19 and Hepton Road. Beck’s vehicle, according to police, was found in a field, having collided with a concrete pillar and was bottomed out in soft dirt. The air bag was deployed. Damage up to $10,000.
3 p.m. Thursday, March 15, East CR 600S, west of South Maple Grove Lane, Warsaw. Drivers: Larry J. Hinshaw, 63, Oak Glen Drive, Warsaw, Drake A Cochran, 26, Southwinds Trail, Warsaw. Hinshaw and Cochran were driving their vehicles eastbound and westbound respectively on CR 600S when the two vehicles collided in the center of the roadway. According to police, the road does not have a center line. Damage up to $5,000.

Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:57 p.m. Monday, March 19, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Edward L. Rice, 78, East CR 1200S, North Manchester, Megan A. Lenn, 22, 13th Street, Winona Lake. Rice told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking spot at Aldi and did not see Lenn’s vehicle. Rice backed his vehicle into the rear of Lenn’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
