Warsaw Man Arrested After Search Warrant Leads To Discovery Of Drugs, Guns
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested this month after police obtained a search warrant for his residence.
DeShoun Robert Everhart, 39, 414 S. Maple Ave., Warsaw, is being charged with dealing a narcotic drug, enhancing circumstances, a level 4 felony; possession of a narcotic drug, enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony; and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a level 4 felony.
On March 12, officers with the Warsaw Police Department served a search warrant to Everhart and advised him of his rights. Everhart waved those rights and advised there was fentanyl spray in the kitchen and possibly some partially burnt marijuana cigarettes.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers located seven packages of fentanyl sublingual spray, a schedule II narcotic drug. Next to the fentanyl, officers discovered a pill grinder containing plant material and a loaded Smith & Wesson 40 caliber semi-automatic handgun magazine. The plant material was identified as marijuana. Officers also located a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun in the bedroom.
Officers contacted Everhart’s spouse and requested that she come to the residence for child care. Permission was obtained to search a black Mercury belonging to the Everharts. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a package of fentanyl sublingual spray and a 40 caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Everhart admitted he did not have a prescription for the fentanyl spray and advised he has been dealing fentanyl spray since August 2017. He stated he has been dealing approximately 3 ounces of crystal methamphetamine a week since December 2017. Everhart further admitted that on March 12 he had arranged to trade fentanyl spray for methamphetamine.
According to the affidavit, Everhart advised that his wife knows he deals illegal drugs. He admitted to having an active criminal charge of dealing methamphetamine in Howard County. Everhart stated that his wife and their infant child were present during the deal in Howard County. He advised he had handguns in the vehicle at the time of the deal.
Everhart was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 12.
