Janice E. Parker
Janice E. Parker, 74, South Whitley, formerly of Rochester, passed away at 4:16 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 16, 1943, Valparaiso, the daughter of Luther and Ruby (Spencer) Eades. On Dec. 23, 1961, in Chesterton, she married Ernest W. Parker. He preceded in death on Nov. 2, 2014.
Parker had worked at Wal-Mart and Superior Sample, both of Rochester, and had been a school bus driver for Fairhaven Christian Academy, Chesterton. She was attending the Family of God Church, South Whitley; and had attended The Cross and First Assembly of God Churches in Rochester. She, along with her daughters, made puppets and performed puppet shows as part their church ministries at various churches over the years. She was a dedicated leader for children’s ministries at numerous churches. She also loved to quilt, providing quilts to numerous mission groups, third world countries and for newly adopted children.
Survivors include her children, Pamela and husband Mark Harvey, South Whitley; Ernest W. and wife Pam Parker Jr., Delong; Kristine and husband Joe Flores, Columbia City; grandchildren, Meagen and husband Harold Tabor, Plymouth; Britain Bolinger, Hamlet; Cassandra and husband Joe Jefferies, Plymouth; Debbie and husband Nick Rowe, Rochester; Ernest W. “Buddy” and wife Shey Parker III, Rochester; Matthew Flores, Pittsburgh, Pa.; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Lynn Hiatt, Valparaiso; Margaret “Peggy” Ponder, Chesterton; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Cross Church, Rochester. Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Friday March 16, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery, Rochester
