Doris Jean Eiler
Doris Jean Eiler, 75, Larwill, passed away at 6:43 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at her sister’s home, Larwill. Born April 21, 1942, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of William G. and DeLaures B. (Ables) Peppler.
She grew up in Allen County, attending Huntertown High School before graduating her senior year from Arcola High School in 1960. On Sept. 16, 1967, she married James Eiler, Jr. She had been a hairstylist since she was 25, owning BeauMonde Beauty Salon before it became Headquarters East and retired from LeCharme Beauty Shop, which she also had owned. She was a member of Larwill Wesleyan Church, Larwill Lions Club, Richland Homemakers Club and Whitley County Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her sons: Rex Eiler of Larwill; Jim (Melissa) Eiler, of South Whitley; and Kevin (Bobbie) Eiler, of Columbia City; sister, Mary (Lin) Branning, of Larwill; brothers: Gary Peppler, of Howe; David (Deanna) Peppler, of Columbia City; Jonathan (Susan) Peppler, of Roanoke; and Thomas Peppler, of Columbia City; sister-in-law, Diana Peppler, of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; two special nieces whom she helped raise, Glenda Eiler and Karen Johnson; plus a host of other loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Eiler; brother, Stanley Peppler; sisters, Darlene Peppler, Sandra Peppler and Jacqueline “Jackie” Peppler; and special nephew, Ed Eiler.
Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Beck officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Center (Compton/Norris) Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Larwill Lions Club or her church.
