Clifford Dale Zillmer
Clifford Dale Zillmer, 94, passed away at 3:30 a.m., Sunday, March 11, 2018, in Signature Health Care of Bremen.
He was born on March 20, 1923, to Albert and Carrie (Manges) Zillmer of Bremen. He married Betty Marks on Aug. 30, 1942.
He was a lifelong resident and farmer of Bremen with his wife just south of town. Much of the nature trails and soccer fields in Jane’s Park were once part of the Zillmer Farm.
The Zilmer’s built a new home on the farm where he was born and raised, just north of the Bremen Community Hospital. He served in the US Army-Air Force during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. They were involved with 4-H. They were also involved with Farm Bureau Co-Op and traveled with them to Hawaii, Europe, and cruises to the Caribbean.
They enjoyed camping as well. They were active with their Sunday school class of the former Salem United Methodist Church, now Bremen United Methodist Church.
He is preceded by both of his parents; three brothers, Arthur, Victor, and Leo; his wife of 69 years, Betty Jean; son, Nelson Dale; a granddaughter, and two grandsons. They have four daughters; Kae (Steven) Forsythe of Arkansas; Pamela (Steven) Miller of Bremen; Nancy (Bryan) Brenneman of Texas; and Cynthia Kling of Bremen. He has 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 18, in Bremen United Methodist Church, 302 Plymouth St., Bremen, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Lynn Breeden and Pastor Chuck Krieg will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery with military honors.
