William Gard, 78, Ligonier, died 8 a.m., Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Avalon Village, Ligonier.
He was born April 7, 1939, in Noble County to Robert H. and Hazel (Wilson) Gard. He married Barbara K. (Scearce) Gard in March 1964 and she died July 13, 2010.
Surviving are sons: William “Bill” Gard, Jr., Goshen; Skylar Gard, Goshen; Stanley Gard, Idaville; and daughters: Teresa (Sam) Profitt, Monticello, Mich.; Dana (Phil) LaBar, Goshen; Judy Gard, Goshen; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Barbara, a granddaughter, brothers, Larry and Earl Gard and step-mom, Lavetta Gard and father.
He was a veteran and served from 1956-1958. He worked at Goshen Rubber as a press operator.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, and the funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the DAV, Chapter 15, Goshen.
