Sheriff’s Department Recognizes Outstanding Citizens
KOSCIUSKO — Sheriff William “Rocky” Goshert reports about three citizens in Kosciusko County and noted the public hears daily of the negative aspects of life in the news from around the nation, but positive things happen in Kosciusko County.
Sheriff Goshert advised, “These are three great citizens of Kosciusko County who are doing good out in our community. It would take a large amount of personal conviction to do what these guys did. The public needs to be aware that Kosciusko REMC has such dedicated employees.”
Last week the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by KREMC about a large amount of cash found in a ditch. The three men working on the KREMC crew advised they found the money and turned it in for safe keeping to see if the owner could be located.
The next day the sheriff’s department was contacted by a resident next to where the money was located about a subject looking for something in the field. The subject left the area, but the resident was asked to send the subject to the sheriff’s department if he returned. The male subject did return the next day and was put into contact with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
Measures were taken to make sure the funds were his and it was able to be confirmed the cash was the property of that subject. It turned out the male subject had been a victim of fraud and had emptied a bank account to attempt to stop the fraud when he lost the money. The three men from the KREMC line crew turned in approximately $5,000 dollars to be reunited with it owner.
