Caucus Cancelled, Cloud Appointed As Monroe Township Trustee
KOSCIUSKO — There will be no caucus Tuesday, March 13, to fill the vacancy of Monroe Township Trustee. Two circumstances have occurred that have changed the requirements for filling the position of Monroe Township Trustee.
Josh Spangle is the resigning Monroe Township Trustee and was the only elected Precinct Committeeman in Monroe Township. Spangle is moving out of his district, therefore, he is not permitted to hold either position and has submitted letters of resignation for both.
Stephanie Cloud is the only person who filed for the vacant position of Monroe Township Trustee prior to the filing deadline. Cloud is also the only candidate that filed for Monroe Township Trustee for the May 8 primary election and will be the Republican candidate in the November General Election.
Monroe Township resident Travis Trump has been appointed to serve as the new Precinct Committeeman for the area. However, according to party rules, a precinct committeeman or committeewoman must be in position for 30 days before they are eligible to vote in a caucus.
In this circumstance, Mike Ragan County Republican Chair must appoint a candidate to fill the vacancy. Effective Thursday, March 15, Cloud will be appointed to fill the vacancy of Monroe Township Trustee.
Cloud has lived in the Pierceton area her entire life. A graduate of Whitko High School and Franklin College, Cloud works as the creative arts coordinator at Warsaw Community Church.
She and her husband, Brandon, have been married for eight years and have two sons.
