Ruby F. “Penny” Wallace, Ross, Shively, 93, Fort Wayne, formally of Warsaw, passed away Thursday March 8, 2018, at 8:15 a.m. in Heritage Park Assisted Living & Garden Homes, Fort Wayne. She was born Nov. 26, 1924, to Frank and Pearl (Bennett) Wallace in Argos. Penny moved to Fort Wayne in 2006 to be near to her son and daughter.
She has two daughters, Jeanetta Greathouse Addington, Mishawaka, and Wendy Ross Hill, Fort Wayne; two sons, Steve Ross, Hernando, Fla., and Herb Ross, Leo; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pearl Wallace, Plymouth, seven brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, and husband Merle Shively.
She was employed at United Telephone Company in Warsaw until retirement in 1986. She was a long time member at the Claypool Methodist Church.
She spent most of her life in Warsaw. She and Merle started a small travel bus business, taking friends and relatives to Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds baseball games. Sometimes they would take excursions to various places in the continental United States and Canada. They enjoyed their retirement traveling together.
She and Merle enjoyed bowling. They both bowled a couple of times a week at Gilliam’s Bowling Lanes in Warsaw. She enjoyed going to the bowling tournaments throughout the United States. In 1969 she won first place in three separate categories.
She enjoyed going to see her great grandchildren’s sporting events. She often said she missed talking to her brothers and sister. They were all gone. The sole surviving brother passed away in the spring of 2012. She was ready to join them and her parents, her husband and her granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with a funeral service to follow in the funeral chapel with Chaplain Fred Meuter officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
