Two From Winamac Arrested For Heroin In Their Vehicle
WARSAW — A man and woman from Winamac were arrested after heroin was discovered in their vehicle.
Brittney Dee Voltz, 31, and Charles Edward Braun, 32, both of 4643 W. CR 200N, Winamac, are each being charged with possession of a narcotic drug and possession of a syringe, both level 6 felonies.
On March 4, Warsaw police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the CVS parking lot.
Police saw a parked vehicle not in a designated parking space. Voltz exited the vehicle and walked to the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Braun was sitting in the driver seat, appearing disoriented with jerky body movements.
Officers contacted emergency medical services for Braun, who was uncoordinated and confused.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police searched the vehicle and discovered an uncapped syringe and an aluminum can containing a white residue.
Both the syringe and residue tested positive for heroin.
Voltz admitted that she and Braun came form Winamac to Warsaw in order to purchase heroin. She also admitted that she currently used heroin.
Braun admitted that he used heroin before leaving a motel.
Voltz and Braun were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on March 4, each with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
