WARSAW — One juvenile male has been arrested on preliminary charges of auto theft, resisting law enforcement and false informing.
At approximately 6:10 p.m. last night, March 6, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Warsaw Police Department responded to a theft in progress near the intersection of Fort Wayne and Harrison streets in Warsaw. A short time later a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy witnessed a vehicle that matched the description provided for the theft suspect.
The deputy Sheriff attempted to perform a traffic stop on the 2006 Dodge Caravan involved in the incident. The male operator did not stop for the Deputy and continued to travel through Warsaw. The 2006 Dodge Caravan disregarded a traffic signal at the intersection of Bronson St. and Winona Ave. causing a traffic collision with a vehicle not involved in the incident. The male operator was taken into custody at the scene of the crash without further incident. The male suspect collided with a 2004 GMC Yukon that was operated by Mariah Metzger, 23 years of age, of North Manchester. The operator and the passengers from the 2004 GMC Yukon did sustain minor injuries in the incident.
The male suspect taken into custody was a 16 year old juvenile, from Rochester. The juvenile male was detained and transported to Kinzie Youth Center in Kokomo for a Parole Hold and the Charges for Kosciusko County.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
