Illinois Daycare Workers Arrested Over Laced Gummy Bears Given To Toddlers
DES PLAINES, ILL. — Three Illinois daycare workers were arrested for distributing laced gummy bears to toddlers.
Authorities arrested 32-year-old Kristen Lauletta, 19-year-old Jessica Heyse and 25-year-old Ashley Helfenbein of Kiddie Junction Daycare in Des Plaines.
According to reports, the three gave a group of 2-year-olds melatonin-laced candy without parental consent.
When questioned, they reportedly told police they did not think it was inappropriate because it was an over-the-counter sleeping aid.
The women are each charged with two counts of child endangerment along with battery, with the possibility of more charges to be added.
They are expected to be in court next month.
