Oakwood Cemetery Board Members Discuss Spring Cleanup, Columbarium Plates
WARSAW — Thursday, March 1, at the Oakwood Cemetery Board of Regents monthly meeting, Oakwood Sexton Hal Heagy informed board members that approximately 70 percent of spring clean-up has been completed. Any grave blankets that were not removed by the March 1 deadline are being pulled up.
Another water line repair was done recently. Heagy said a slow leak was discovered near the front entrance of the cemetery.
Board members discussed rules and information related to Cremation Garden #2 at Oakwood. Regarding the new columbarium front plates, it was decided at this month’s meeting that the only information allowed on the front plates will be name, year of birth and year of death. No designs/emblems will be allowed. The engraving will be done strictly by laser etching. All front plates on the new columbarium are black. The etching of information on the niche front plate will be done by a monument company of the niche owner’s choice. The monument company will coordinate through the cemetery office regarding acquiring the front plate for etching. The only exception to this will be small bronze military memorial plaques, which can be attached to the front plate in place of the laser etching.
The size of the urn/container cannot exceed 10” x 10” x 10”. Nothing can be placed on top or at the base of the columbarium and nothing can be attached to the front of the niche.
