WINONA LAKE – Brooke Sugg and Vironnica Drake of the Grace College women’s basketball team were honored to the postseason All-Crossroads League Team on Wednesday.
Sugg was a Second Team honoree, and Drake was honorable mention for All-League for the Lady Lancers.
Sugg enjoyed the finest season of her career. The junior guard led Grace in scoring at 14.3 points per game, shooting 45 percent from the floor, 41 percent from beyond the arc and 90 percent from the free throw line. She is currently No. 9 in the Crossroads League in scoring, No. 4 in 3-point shooting, No. 6 in field goal percentage and No. 1 in free throw percentage.
She is the only starting player in NAIA Div. II to shoot at least 45 percent from the floor, 40 percent on 3-pointers and 90 percent from the foul line.
Drake filled the stat sheet all year for Grace. She scored 12.8 points per game while leading the team in rebounds (5.1/game), assists (2.0/game) and steals (1.4/game).
Drake has been a consistent scoring threat throughout the season; she has scored in double figures for 10 straight contests to end the year.
The Lady Lancers finished fourth in the ultra-competitive Crossroads League, advancing to the league tournament semifinals.
Grace will play an NCCAA Regional game on Thursday at Concordia (Mich.) in preparation for the upcoming 2018 NCCAA National Championships, held in Winona Lake starting March 14.
