Richard F. Silveus — UPDATED
Richard F. Silveus, 85, of rural Mentone, (Palestine), passed at 8:31 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw.
He was born on July 4, 1932, in Milford to Floyd and Mary (Miller) Silveus.
He married on Feb. 8, 1957, in Columbia City, to Lula F. Setser, she survives.
He retired in 1995 from Dana Corp. in Syracuse after 34 years with the company.
He was member of the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Warsaw. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post of Pierceton. He had been an active volunteer for the American Red Cross. Richard enjoyed spending time fishing and metal detecting.
He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Mari Stoffey, Minnesota; sons: James Richard Silveus, Reno, Nev.; Kenneth Lee (Johanna) Silveus, Pierceton; grandchildren, Jacob Lee and Tori Jo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 1, also at the funeral home. Pastor David Cripe will officiate. He will be buried at Palestine Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by the North Webster American Legion Post 253.
