Carolyn Rose Runkle
Carolyn Rose Runkle, 85, formerly of Akron, passed at 7:10 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Chase Center Nursing Home of Logansport.
She was born on July 22, 1932, in Fulton, to R. Emmett and Mildred (Callaway) Burns.
Carolyn married on Nov. 4, 1950, in Fulton, to Robert E. Runkle, he preceded on Aug. 17, 1984.
She was a homemaker and a farm wife. She had also worked in retail sales at Hallmark, Raker’s Boutique and Dress Shop, and the News Stand of Rochester.
She was a 1950 graduate of Fulton High School. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where she was a part of the UMW. She served on the Fulton County 4-H Fair Board and had also been a leader. She enjoyed gardening, farm work, sewing, baking pies, spending time with her grandchildren, and fellowship.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan (Charles) Thomas, Kewanna; sons: Tom (Susie) Runkle, Fulton; Phil Runkle, Akron; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; sister, Doris Cassassa, Monticello; brother, Dick Burns, Logansport. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters: Mary Jo Bean, Dorothy A. Miller and Shirley Naughgle.
Private family services will be held. The family will gather to receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church 242 W. Pleasant Hill Rd. Akron.
Burial will occur at Akron Cemetery, Akron.
