Warsaw Man Arrested After Fraudulently Using Mother’s Credit Card For Cigarettes, Shoes
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after using his mother’s credit card for multiple fraudulent purchases, including cigarettes and shoes.
Joseph Alexei Deeter, 20, 966 West CR 400N, Warsaw, is being charged with theft, a level 6 felony, and fraud, a class A misdemeanor.
On Feb. 9, a female victim reported that her Lake City Bank credit card was stolen. Her bank had notified her in regards to suspicious activity on the card.
The female told officers that on Feb. 5, her son Deeter and a friend stopped by her house for a sandwich. At one point, Deeter left the kitchen area and his mother believes this is when he stole her credit card. She had not given her son permission to use the card.
According to a print out of her Lake City Bank account, unauthorized charges were made at McDonald’s, Marathon gas station, Papa John’s, Dairy Queen and Champs Sports.
Surveillance video from the Marathon gas station on Feb. 5, show Deeter using the stolen card to purchase two cartons of cigarettes totaling $64.91. The video also shows Deeter’s friend using the card to purchase gasoline for $36.
Another surveillance video from Champs Sports on Feb. 5, show Deeter using the stole car to purchase two pairs of shoes totaling $353.10.
Deeter was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 23, with a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
