Triton Football: Slusser Signs On With Trine
BOURBON — Triton High School football standout Max Slusser signed his letter of intent to play football at Trine next fall in a ceremony at Triton last week.
Slusser was a senior leader in all three phases of the game last fall, helping lead the Trojans to a record-setting season that included an 8-4 finish with a narrow, 10-7 Sectional 41 championship game loss to LaVille, as well as a 4-2 Hoosier North Athletic Conference record.
At running back, Slusser led his team in rushing with 145 carries worth 874 yards and 12 touchdowns and also caught 13 passes for 124 yards. At free safety, Slusser led Triton in interceptions with seven on the year in addition to his 51 solos tackles and 76 total tackles. He also played a valuable role as the team’s kicker with 1,942 kickoff yards and 949 punt yards.
Slusser will join a Trine squad coming off its own banner year with a school record-tying 11-1 finish, including the program’s third undefeated regular season and fourth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship. The Thunder finished out the season in the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament, the team’s fourth appearance in the tournament.
