Southern Gospel Concert At Wawasee High School
Two popular Southern Gospel singing groups will be featured in concert in the Wawasee High School auditorium Saturday, Feb. 24.
Legacy Five and Triumphant Quartet will perform during the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Advance tickets are $22 for gold seating (the first 10 rows of the comfortable theater seating) and $17 for general admission. Prices are $2 more at the door. Children 10 and under will be admitted free.
The groups will spend some time before the concert on the Phil Gingerich farm in Milford.
“We’ll pick them up, feed them a good home-cooked lunch and let them mess around on the farm,” said Gingerich, who has spearheaded the annual concert for 27 years.
“Legacy Five has performed for us every year since they formed in 2000,” he said. “Before that they were with The Cathedrals, who sang for nine years before that.”
This is the first year The Triumphant Quartet will participate in the concert.
The first half of the concert will feature the two groups doing their own sets. The second half will consist of both groups singing together.
“It will be like a church service,” said Gingerich. “They will have you laughing and then they will get serious. It is a good time.”
The performers will be available for photos and autographs after the concert, expected to end about 10 p.m. CDs and other items will be available for purchase during and after the concert.
Legacy Five made its official debut in January 2000 in Atlanta. In their first decade they were nominated for 75 awards, including two Dove Award nominations.
They perform about 130 times a year throughout the United States and Canada.
The Triumphant Quartet, known as Integrity Quartet until 2005, started performing at the former Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
They are the only established full-time Southern Gospel quartet to never change membership among their vocalists.
They have earned the Singing News Fan Awards every year since 2006 and won the magazine’s annual Favorite Traditional Male Quartet award from 2009 to 2014.
