CLAYPOOL
Officers with the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:28 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, SR15, south of Union Street. Driver: Cruz P. Marquez-Rosas, 22, Village Lane, Akron. Marquez-Rosas was traveling south on SR15 when she lost control of her vehicle due to snow on the road. Her vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a utility pole. Damage up to $5,000.
KOSCIUSKO
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
8:01 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, East Kosciusko Drive, near North CR 175E. Driver: Manoj S. Jadapalli, 27, Orchard Drive, Warsaw. Jadapalli was turning north on CR 175 E when his vehicle began to slide on the snow in the road. His vehicle slid off the roadway, collided with a phone junction box, and then pushed against a stop sign. Damage up to $5,000.
PIERCETON
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:35 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, East US 30, west of South CR 900E. Driver: Brenna N. Keene, 22, Sagimore Ct., Fort Wayne. Keene was driving west on US 30 when she lost control of her vehicle and slid into a guardrail. The vehicle flipped off the roadway, landing on its top. 20 feet of guardrail was destroyed. Both occupants of the vehicle were able to exit before officers arrived. Damage up to $25,000.
4:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, US 30, near SR13. Drivers: Bonnie L. Irving, 50, Covington Road Apartment C23, Fort Wayne, and Beverly J. Kapocius, 59, Wheelock Road, Fort Wayne. Both vehicles were westbound on US 30, approaching an intersection. Kapocius’ vehicle was stopped in front of Irving. Irving dropped her chapstick and reached down to grab it. When she looked back up, she tried braking, but was unable to avoid striking Kapocius’ vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
SYRACUSE
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, South Huntington Street, south of East Lynwood Drive. Drivers: Allen R. Gerber, 81, East 875N, Syracuse, and Taylor A. McCarthy, 28, North Aspen Drive, Warsaw. Gerber was pulling onto South Huntington Street and didn’t notice McCarthy’s vehicle. McCarthy tried to stop, but due to the wet roads, he slid into Gerber’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
WARSAW
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:04 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, Meijer Drive, east of US 30. Drivers: Teresa A. Fuller, 46, East Oak Lane, Warsaw, and Julia A. Shepherd-Gibbons, 55, EMS B20B Lane, Pierceton. Fuller was driving north on Meijer Drive when she stopped behind Shepherd-Gibbons’ vehicle at the intersection. Fuller looked to the west, thinking that Shepherd-Gibbons had already pulled forward. She didn’t realize that Shepherd-Gibbons had stopped again, and she rear-ended the vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
WINONA LAKE
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, Kings Highway, near Wooster Road. Driver: Mitchell E. Robinson, 32, Chestnut Street, Winona Lake. Officers were dispatched to the report of a car accident where nobody was in the vehicle. Police found a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole. Officers made contact with the vehicle owner, who stated that he was selling his vehicle to Robinson. Officers then made contact with Robinson, who said that due to icy road conditions, the vehicle struck the utility pole. Robinson then contacted a friend and asked him to come in the morning to help him tow the vehicle to his residence. Robinson did not call the utility company or the police to notify them of the accident. Damage up to $5,000.
