Wawasee Basketball: Knights Too Much For Warriors
KENDALLVILLE – A slow start turned into a huge wake-up call for the East Noble Knights Saturday evening. A nine-point first quarter turned into a 23-point bulge in the second quarter of an eventual 64-51 win against Wawasee Saturday night in boys non-conference hoops.
East Noble only led by four points after the first quarter, but had Hayden Jones turn on the jets in the second with a trio from downtown, part of his 20-point scoring effort. The Knights hit nine threes overall in the game, Michael Bender also hitting three of them to help his 15-point night. Ali Ali scored six of his eight points in the second quarter and delivered seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
Wawasee kept up with East Noble from behind the arc, hitting eight treys, led by four from Aaron Evans. His 16-point night saw 11 come in the fourth quarter as the Warriors were in trail mode. Jairus Boyer added 11 points and Ryan Edington 10 points.
East Noble moves to 19-1 on the season and finishes up the regular season with roadies at Angola and Elkhart Memorial next week. Wawasee slides to 5-16 overall with its final regular season contest Friday at home with Tippecanoe Valley.
