Triton Basketball: Falcons Manage To Hold Off Trojans
WALKERTON – After building a huge lead, John Glenn got a fight from Triton in the fourth quarter before pulling out a 55-47 boys basketball win Saturday afternoon.
Glenn led 31-18 at the half and had a 46-23 lead before Triton mounted a furious comeback that fell just short.
Triton outscored Glenn 20-9 in the fourth quarter, using a 19-point day from Ross Johnson and 14 points from Beau Hepler. The two also combined for nine rebounds but committed eight of Triton’s 14 turnovers.
Glenn had eight players score, paced by the 12 points from Zac Mago and 10 points, six boards and five dimes from Mike Machnic. Evan Dreibelbis added nine points and Carter Yung and Jake Morris each finished with seven points.
Glenn made the most of Triton’s mistakes, outscoring Triton 17-5 on second chance points and got 13 points from its bench to just six from the Trojans.
The JV game saw Glenn sprint past Triton 52-32. Sam Bishop led the way for the Falcons with nine points and Trenton Kreft paced the Trojans with eight points.
Triton (6-13) will next play Tuesday at Bremen.
