NorthWood Basketball: Panthers Make It Seven Straight Wins
NAPPANEE – Make it seven straight for the NorthWood boys basketball team.
The Panthers wrapped up a busy week by downing Oregon-Davis 52-40 in a Saturday afternoon affair in the Panther Pit.
NorthWood, which won for the fourth time in the last six days, improves to 15-5 on the season. The Panthers defeated Elkhart Memorial Monday, before winning at Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday and then picking up a win at Elkhart Christian Academy Friday night.
The Panthers led 10-5 after the first frame and 27-18 at halftime en route to the win.
Caleb Lung turned in a strong all-around effort to pace NorthWood. The senior forward had 15 points to go with 11 rebounds.
Junior Kaden Gongwer canned 10 points for the Panthers. Brad Delio had seven points to go with four assists and Luke Holland and Nick Bean each added four points.
NorthWood shot 19-42 overall from the field, including 4-10 from 3-point range. The hosts were 10-12 from the free throw line.
Trevor Risner led OD with 18 points. Jonathan Clark chipped in with 16 for the Bobcats, who fall to 10-9.
NorthWood won the junior varsity game 49-19. Ben Vincent had 16 points and Trent Edwards 10 for the winners.
NorthWood hosts Manchester Tuesday night and entertains Elkhart Central Thursday evening to close out the regular season. The Panthers will then host their own Class 3-A sectional.
OD hosts LaVille Tuesday, Knox Wednesday and plays at Boone Grove Friday to conclude its regular season.
