Margie Alice Gordon
Margie Alice Gordon, 86, of Columbia City, passed away at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at her home. Born Jan. 17, 1932, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Grover and Beulah (Huffman) Gaerte.
She graduated from North Webster High School with the Class of 1950. Margie married Norman Dale Gordon on Dec. 24, 1950, in Columbia City. She was a devoted wife and mother who helped with the family farm and Gordon Airport in Columbia City. She was a faithful and active member of The Chapel. Previously, Margie and Norm were faithful attendees at Oak Grove Church of God and Columbia City First Church of God. She enjoyed listening to the Booth Brothers at Shipshewana.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Wayne) Kreiger, of Columbia City; sons: Randy (Julie) Gordon and Ben (Michel) Gordon, both of Columbia City; brother, Larry (Shirley) Gaerte and sisters: Sharon Heidt, of Boynton Beach, Fla. and Phyllis (Jerry) Terman, of Markle; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norm Gordon; son, Dan Gordon; granddaughter, Christina Jeffers; and siblings, Junior, Kate and Mary.
Visitation is 2 to7 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Clough officiating. A private family committal will immediately follow at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery. Memorials may be given in her memory to Heritage Mission, Riley Children’s Foundation or Parkview Whitley Home Health Care and Hospice.
