Richard C. Pride
Richard C. Pride, 66, Columbia City, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018. He was a patient at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born Sept. 4, 1951, in South Bend, a son of Richard C. and Maymie (Key) Pride Sr. His formative years were spent in Mishawaka. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1970.
On March 22, 1975, he was united in marriage to Roxanne L. Nisley. They made their home in the Mishawaka area. In 1990 the couple moved to Columbia City.
He began his work career with Jefferson Manor Lanes Bowling Alley, Mishawaka becoming their pro-shop manager. He then started his own company, Pro-Line which he ran until 1988. Concurrently, he attended Winebrenner Theological Seminary receiving his ministerial degree. Moving to Fort Wayne to pursue his passion of serving in Christ ministries, he worked at Mark Fore Sales and as a visiting pastor for the First Church of God, Columbia City. He then worked for Mount Tabor, Nappanee for 3 years returning to Columbia City as the Pastor of Eagle Quest Church for ten years. For three years he worked with Broadway Christian Church, Fort Wayne and completed his ministerial work at Salem Missionary Church in Noble County. He also served as the Columbia City Police Department Chaplain for five years.
He enjoyed playing the guitar, hiking, fishing and watching his favorite football team, the Chicago Bears. A talented woodworker, he made family heirloom pieces for his wife, children and grandchildren. With a kind heart to all, he loved serving the Lord and spreading the Gospel.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 42 years, Roxanne; three daughters: Jessica J. (Chris) Hockemeyer, Ashley A. (Josh) Otis and Rachel R. Pride, all of Columbia City; four grandchildren: Kylah Hockemeyer, Charlotte and Lucy Otis and Truett Pride; his mother, Maymie Pride, Mishawaka; a brother, Randy J. (Laura) Pride and a sister, Teresa S. (Tom) Mihm, both of Mishawaka.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Nolt Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
