Russell J. Moore — UPDATED
Russell J. “Russ” Moore, 92, Leesburg, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Mason Healthcare & Rehab in Warsaw. He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Fort Wayne to William Earl and Frances I. (Kline) Moore.
He attended South Side High School in Fort Wayne and was a United States Navy veteran. On Sept. 7, 1946, in Warsaw, he married Constance J. “Joan” Green, who survives, and moved to Leesburg in 1949 from Fort Wayne. He retired from Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne after 42 years.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster and the 40 ET 8. Former lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Syracuse and was raised in the Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Moore, Leesburg; two daughters: Cynthia (Scott) Beehler, Nappanee; Sandra Stewart, Cromwell; two sons: Tom (Rosie) Moore, South Lake, Texas; and Phillip Moore, Leesburg; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; sister, Janice Ianucilli, Fort Wayne; two brothers: Jerry Moore, Fort Wayne; Bill (Becky) Moore, Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters: Gladys Rhodes, Evelyn Stough, Bernice Land, Velma Clausen and Viola McKee; and two brothers: Bob Moore and Edwin Moore.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home Burial will be in Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by the North Webster American Legion.
