North Webster Chamber Awards Banquet Is March 12
NORTH WEBSTER — The hot topic at the monthly meeting of the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce was the 2018 awards banquet. The meeting was held Monday, Feb. 12, at the Tippecanoe Township Building.
The awards banquet will be Monday, March 12, at The Owl’s Nest, 7369 E. 800N, North Webster. It is the new banquet facility of chamber member The Sleepy Owl.
Committee member Stacey Cox, Pletcher Insurance, announced everyone should have received a mailed invitation by now. RSVP and payments are due Monday, Feb. 26. All chamber members and employees are invited. The cost is $25 per person. Payments and reservations can be mailed to the chamber, P.O. Box 19, North Webster, IN 46555.
The evening will feature a silent auction, a cocktail hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the awards will be presented at 7 p.m.
Any business or organization that has items to donate for the silent auction should contact Cox; Terry Frederick, The Watershed Foundation, or Susan Stump, The Papers.
Voting for the winners from the nominees was done by chamber board members after the meeting closed and ballots were put in a sealed envelope to be given to Jim Smith, president. Awards will be given to small business of the year, large business of the year and person of the year.
In the absence of Smith, acting secretary Martha Stoelting, The Papers, presided at the meeting. Ambassador Mindy Scaggs, Re/Max Lakes, talked about the businesses needing ribbon cutting ceremonies with the group and will begin arranging them.
The chamber website, www.northwebster.com, is constantly being updated by volunteer Tammy Waliczek, Dixie Haven Resort. She received more than 50 photos to add to it.
The 2018-19 edition of the North Webster Community Guide is underway according to Stoelting. Ads for the directory will be sold during March. Anyone wishing prices on ads should contact Susan Stump, The Papers, (574) 457-3666. The book will be delivered to the chamber Tuesday, May 8, for distribution.
Everyone present received a copy of the current by-laws last updated June 6, 2016, while a clean up day for the chamber office was tabled until the next regular meeting. It will be held noon Monday, April 9, in the chamber office at the Tippecanoe Township Building. There will be no regular meeting in March due to the banquet.
