John Kent Surface, 66, New Haven, passed away at 12:57 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 29, 1951, in Warsaw, to Cornelius Surface and Cameron Irene (Brown) Surface.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County for 55 years where he was a 1970 graduate of Akron High School. For a number of years he worked at Whitley Manufacturing and at SEAMCO Inc. both in South Whitley. He also worked at Biomet, Zimmer and as a machinist for Warsaw Coil for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He leaves behind three daughters: Joanna Surface, Claypool; Becky Harvey, Warsaw; Ella Penning, North Manchester; and two grandchildren: Alyssa and Kyler Surface. Also surviving are his brother: Richard Surface, Claypool; and two sisters: Catherine Surface, Warsaw; Karen (husband Sam) Brown, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother David.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, at Warsaw Missionary Church, 1849 Springhill Road, Warsaw and officiated by Pastor Ken Chupp. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
