WARSAW — A Madison Elementary sixth grade student recently visited the Indiana House Committee on Public Health to share his petition in regards to a proposal to raise taxes on cigarettes sold in Indiana.
Cayman Blake, son of Dan and Heidi Blake of Warsaw, was invited to speak by Indiana Representative Charlie Brown after the two met during a tobacco-free advocacy event held at the Indiana Statehouse.
On Monday, Jan. 29, Blake shared his passionate appeal on why he believed the committee should support HB 1380’s goal of raising taxes and the legal age to purchase tobacco.
Heidi Blake states though the bill did not pass the full house vote, Cayman is proud to have had the opportunity to speak and enrich the lives of others. Blake noted Cayman plans to continue to be involved in his community and in supporting campaigns for tobacco-free kids and teens.
