Area Accident Reports
KOSCIUSKO
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
7:12 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, West CR 1200S, east of South CR 700W. Driver: Lindsey N. Reese, 35, North 650E, Rochester. Reese was driving west on CR 1200S and attempted to stop at an intersection, but slid through it. Reese’s vehicle entered a creek and went down a steep ditch. Damage up to $10,000.
6:59 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, Fox Farm Road, near North Lake Street. Drivers: Oliver Bloom, 25, East Holly Road, Holly, Michigan, and Rajah Rao, 26, Briar Ridge Circle, Warsaw. Bloom and Rao were driving south on Fox Farm Road. They approached a roundabout, and Rao stopped at the yield sign. Bloom said that since there wasn’t any traffic coming, he assumed Rao wouldn’t stop at the sign. Bloom’s vehicle rear-ended Rao’s. Damage up to $5,000.
12:26 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, Fisher Avenue, near Short Ridge Drive. Drivers: Cameron A. Phillips, 26, West CR 250S, Warsaw, and Charles W. Thompson, 38, Runnymede Drive, Greenfield. Thompson was driving south on Fisher Avenue and was stopped in traffic. Phillips was also driving south when he looked away for a second and noticed that traffic was stopped. Phillips’ vehicle struck the rear of Thompson’s vehicle. A minor in Phillips’ car was transported to the hospital to be checked out and no injuries were found. Damage up to $25,000.
PIERCETON
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:48 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, State Road 13, north of US 30. Drivers: Curtis A. Reed, 34, South Arnold Street, Roann, and Chelsey Alger, 30, East CR 1000S, Claypool. Reed was driving north on SR 13 and started to brake for the intersection of US 30. For an unknown reason, Reed’s vehicle accelerated. Reed swerved to avoid rear-ending Alger’s vehicle, but was unable to stop the impact. Damage up to $2,500.
SILVER LAKE
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:42 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, West CR 900S, east of South SR15. Drivers: John M. Foreman, 47, South CR 300W, Peru, and Rodney W. Metzger, 63, East CR 800S, Claypool. Foreman was driving west on CR 900S when he saw that Metzger’s vehicle had some sort of chute extending from the vehicle. The chute caused damage to Foreman’s vehicle. Foreman called in the accident as a hit and run, with Metzger unaware that the chute of his vehicle had struck Foreman’s vehicle. Otherwise, he would have stopped. Damage up to $5,000.
WARSAW
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:18 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 100 North Detroit Street. Drivers: Alan R. Stackhouse, 50, West CR 700S, Claypool, and Jose C. Gonzalez, 27, Tecumseh Street, Warsaw. Stackhouse was parked at CVS and began backing up to exit his parking spot. As he began backing up, Stackhouse’s vehicle struck Gonzalez’s. Damage up to $5,000.
