NorthWood Basketball: Panthers Pound Chargers
NAPPANEE – The NorthWood boys basketball team had a second quarter to remember Tuesday night.
The hosts piled up 26 points in the pivotal frame en route to a dominating 59-34 win over West Noble in non-conference action in the Panther Pit.
The visiting Chargers led 15-14 at the end of the opening period before the hosts went on a scoring tear in the second frame. The Panthers outscored West Noble 26-5 in the quarter to take a 40-20 halftime lead.
DeAndre Smart led a balanced offensive attack for the Panthers with 12 points.
Brad Delio scored 11 points and Luke Holland went 5-5 from the field to net 10 points for the winners. Caleb Lung added eight points and Caleb Glick had five points and six assists.
NorthWood shot 26-45 overall from the field, including 5-12 from distance.
Trevor Franklin scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Chargers. Josh Gross had 11 points for West Noble.
The Chargers shot just 11-32 from the field, including 5-17 from 3-point land.
NorthWood improves to 10-5 on the season, while West Noble drops to 8-9 with its fourth straight loss and eighth in its last 10 games.
NorthWood won the junior varsity game 62-14. Ben Vincent had 16 points and Josh Stratford 10 to lead NorthWood.
NorthWood hosts Elkhart Memorial Friday night in its final NLC game and then entertains Bethany Christian Saturday afternoon.
West Noble plays at Columbia City Monday night.
