KOSCIUSKO
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
8:51 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, North Old Road 15, south of East CR 1300N. Drivers: James H. Henderson, 70, North Old SR15, Milford, and Mindi R. Yoder, 31, North Old SR15, Milford. Henderson was backing out of a driveway and didn’t see Yoder’s vehicle. Yoder’s vehicle struck the snow plow on the front of Henderson’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
7:27 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, East Old Road 30, west of North CR 600E. Driver: Todd M. Hammer, 52, EMS W17 Lane, North Webster. Hammer was driving west on Old Road 30E when he saw an eastbound pickup truck in the middle of the roadway. The plow from the pickup truck struck the driver’s side of Hammer’s vehicle. Hammer’s vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree. The pickup truck continued on and didn’t stop. Hammer’s vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side and front. Damage up to $25,000.
6:40 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, North SR19, near West CR 1050N. Drivers: William T. Bellamy, 43, Elizabeth Street, Fort Wayne, and Larry C. Andrews, 64, Jessica Court, Nappanee. Bellamy was driving north on SR19, and Andrews was driving south. When the two vehicles passed each other, their mirrors struck. Damage under $750.
2:59 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 3186 South SR25. Driver: Erica A. Ramirez, 31, Canterbury Lane, Warsaw. Ramirez was going to turn into her driveway, but slid off the road. Her vehicle hit a tree in her front yard. Ramirez did not call the accident in since her insurance company informed her that she didn’t need a report since she hit her own property. Damage up to $10,000.
12:33 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, North CR 400E, south of East CR 375N. Driver: Nathan J. Ries, 37, East Pioneer Way, North Webster. Ries was driving south on CR 400E when he lost control of his vehicle due to the road conditions. His vehicle went off the right side of the road, hitting a tree. Damage up to $25,000.
10:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, South SR19, north of West CR 200S. Driver: Brandon A. Williams, 26, Heritage Drive, Rochester. Williams was driving north on SR19 when he lost control of his vehicle due to slick roads. His vehicle struck a Nipsco utility pole. Williams complained of neck and back pain, but refused medical transport. Damage up to $5,000.
10:24 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, South CR 600W, north of West Red Bird Lane. Driver: Ashton B. Seaney, 18, East CR 100S, Silver Lake. Sean was driving north on CR 600W when he crested a hill. Seaney’s vehicle slid and left the east edge of the road. His vehicle hit a guardrail, and it sustained heavy front end damage. Damage up to $10,000.
8:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, North CR 500E, near East CR 650N. Driver: Donald R. Barton, 36, West Portland Street, Syracuse. Barton was driving south on CR 500E when his vehicle began to slide on the icy roads. He slid through an intersection and into a ditch, hitting some trees. Damage up to $5,000.
7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, North CR 675E, north of East 500N. Driver: Elisha T. Tipping, 18, North Aspen Drive, Warsaw. Tipping was southbound on CR 625E when he lost control of his vehicle while going up a hill. The vehicle spun and went into a ditch, striking a fence and an embankment. Damage up to $5,000.
6:49 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, South Packerton Road, south of East CR 800S. Driver: Stephen L. Waldeck, 57, Willow Lane, Warsaw. Waldeck was driving south on Packerton Road when five deer came from the right side of the roadway. One deer ran into the front fender of Waldeck’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
3:46 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, East CR 450N, near North CR 100E. Drivers: Terry L. Shumpert, 62, North CR 700E, Leesburg, and Brian A. Hatfield, 34, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Shumpert was backing up his vehicle to talk to his wife in the opposite lane. He didn’t realize that Hatfield’s vehicle was close to him, and he backed into it. Damage up to $2,500.
WARSAW
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
1:04 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, North SR15, south of Gilliam Drive. Drivers: James A. Sizemore, 59, East Pierceton Road 2, Warsaw, and James A. Bercik, 45, East Singer Road, North Manchester. Sizemore was driving north on North Detroit Street and merged into the right lane. He sideswiped the rear of Bercik’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
10:39 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 702 North Detroit Street. Driver: Frances D. Edwards, 73, Morris Street, South Bend. Edwards was driving north on North Detroit Street. The vehicle in front of Edwards stopped for an ambulance, and she hit the brakes on her vehicle to avoid a collision. Edwards’ vehicle slid on the road and she went over a curb, hitting a stop sign and two utility poles. Damage up to $10,000.
9:01 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, SR 15, north of Lyon Street. Drivers: Dawn M. McGlothin, 43, 2nd Street, Winona Lake, and Lucille N. Antaya, 28, East Smith Street, Warsaw. McGlothin was driving south on State Road 15 when she saw Antaya’s vehicle stopped in front of her to make a left turn. McGlothin’s vehicle began to slow down, but it slid and rear ended Antaya’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
8:17 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, North Harrison Street, near Brookview Drive. Drivers: Jonathan E. Cosby, 30, North CR 100E, Warsaw, and Terry L. Head, 73, South Wood Street, Warsaw. Head was driving north on Harrison Street when Cosby pulled out in front of him. Head attempted to stop, but slid on the road. Damage up to $10,000.
8:13 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, West Winona Avenue, west of South Washington Street. Drivers: Hosam K. Mansour, 23, Ashwood Lane, Fishers, and Brittany M. O’Brien, 31, North CR 150E, Warsaw. Mansour was driving east on Winona Avenue and was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting O’Brien’s vehicle. O’Brien was waiting on a vehicle in front of her to turn when Mansour’s vehicle hit hers. Damage up to $5,000.
WINONA LAKE
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:22 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, East CR 400S, near South Packerton Road. Driver: Charles G. Parker, 58, Brook Side Drive, Elizabethton, Tennessee. Parker was driving north on Packerton Road when he attempted to stop at an intersection. Due to the heavy snow, Parker slid through the intersection, leaving the roadway. Parker’s vehicle struck a tree. Damage up to $50,000.
