Albert F. Orcutt
Albert F. Orcutt, 92, Warsaw, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at 9:45 a.m., Friday, Feb. 3, 2018, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. He is remembered as a loving father and had noted that he “lived a great life with no regrets.”
He was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Atwood. He was the son of Wesley L. and Ethel (Bemis) Orcutt. He was a 1944 graduate of Atwood High School and spent all of his lifetime in Kosciusko County.
On Sept. 9, 1944, Albert F. Orcutt was inducted into the United States Army in Indianapolis. He would serve his country in the campaigns of Central Europe and was wounded in action on April 11, 1945, for which he earned a Purple Heart. He was decorated with several other medals and ribbons before being honorably discharged from Fort Sheridan, Ill. July 27, 1946.
He returned to the waiting arms of Marjorie Haney to whom he was wed on Aug. 17, 1946. Together they had five children and shared more than 50 happy years before her passing. He was blessed to find love again and was married to Esther J. Grindel on Aug.19, 1998, though she too preceded him in passing after nearly twenty happy years together.
He was humble, multi-talented and good with his hands. As a young man he farmed but he held jobs as a carpenter and in metal fabrication, too. He was an electrician for Derry Electric and had worked for Reliable Builders. He was a longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a member of American Legion, Post 49. He had served on the Harrison Township Advisory Board and enjoyed bluegrass music. A licensed pilot himself, he was grateful to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. on May 2015.
He is survived by four sons: Michael (Maureen) Orcutt of Boston, Mass.; Rex (Jean) Orcutt of Warsaw; Wayne (Vicki) Orcutt of Warsaw; and Mitch (Rachael) Orcutt of Quinlan, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty (Ted) Wilson of Hulett, Wy.
