Triton Basketball: Trojans Fall To Dragons At Plymouth
PLYMOUTH — Triton’s boys basketball team suffered a third-straight loss to potential sectional foe Argos in a game played at Plymouth Thursday night, 38-33.
The Trojans led by a narrow 28-24 margin heading into the fourth period before a 14-5 final frame by the Dragons. Triton converted just 10-of-30 shots from the field for the night, while Argos scored at a 13-of-23 clip, including 7 of 11 (63.6 percent) efficiency over the second half.
Beau Hepler scored 12 points to pace Triton, while Ross Johnson was held to only 10 points. The Dragons got 13 points apiece from Sam Manikowski and Lukas VanDerWeele.
The Trojans (5-9) return to Hoosier North Athletic Conference play at Caston Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Argos (10-6) plays host to West Central Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Triton’s JV also fell short in its contest Thursday, 40-31.
Similar to the varsity contest, the JV Trojans scuffled to a 9-of-35 (25.7 percent) shooting mark, while their Dragons counterparts scored on 14 of 28 shots from the floor.
Trenton Kreft scored 11 points with nine rebounds for Triton. Koleman Norris finished with 12 points — including 6 of 6 free throws — for Argos.
