Stephen Glenn Jones — UPDATED
Stephen Glenn “Steve” Jones, 55, Leesburg, passed away at 3:47 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at his home. He was born on April 13, 1962, in Hillsboro, Ohio to Wilbert L. and Thelma Marie (Lindsey) Jones Jr.
He graduated in 1980 from Hillsboro High School, attended Salem College in West Virginia, graduated in 1984 from Anderson College in Anderson and received his Master’s Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He grew up in Hillsboro, Ohio and moved to the North Webster and Leesburg area in 1994 from Anderson.
He was married on June 8, 1991, in Markleville, IN to Lori E. Whiteley who survives. He was employed at Wawasee Community School Corporation as P.E. Teacher at North Webster Elementary for 21 years and was a former policeman for the Anderson Police Dept. for 10 years.
He was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, Sons of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster, and the N.R.A. He was a coach for numerous sports teams in the Wawasee Community School System and the surrounding area.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Jones, Leesburg; daughter, Molly Jones, Leesburg; two sons: Jacob Jones and Hunter Jones, both of Fort Wayne; father, Wilbert Jones, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters: Sharon Jones, Fairborn, Ohio; Stephanie Harper, Horse Cave, Ky.; two brothers: Wilbert ‘Billy’ Jones III, Englewood, Ohio; Doug Jones, Fairborn, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Jones and grandmother, Irene Jones who helped raise him.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500 N, North Webster and one hour prior to the services at the school on Saturday. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, in the North Webster Elementary School Gymnasium, 5745 N. 750E, North Webster with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the Church of God & Pastor Myron Drent of Country Bible Church officiating.
